Chinese Tourism Development

The Bundaberg Regional Council has invested significant time and resources to pursue opportunities in China and has conducted research and familiarisation delegations to identify potential markets and business opportunities.

In order to realise tourism opportunities in the Bundaberg Region, Council is working to become “China Ready” and is focusing on the following priorities:

  • Identify and develop China Ready commissionable tourism product
  • Educate and support local tourism industry to become China Ready
  • Facilitate web interpretation
  • Address transportation constraints
  • Continue researching the Chinese tourism market

The outcomes of these efforts include the development of commissionable product that can be promoted to wholesale tourism operators in China. Existing relationships and contacts will be utilised to ensure the product development is in line with the demands of the Chinese market.

Other major outcomes involve up-skilling local tourism operators to be ready for the Chinese market. Through targeted education and industry training programs, it is anticipated that Bundaberg can become a preferred "China Ready" tourist destination.

Ultimately, it is Council’s intention to increase civic, cultural, and trade relations with China. Our region is already experiencing real trade outcomes and Council wants to ensure that this momentum continues in the years to come.
